IMPORTANT NOTE

IMPORTANT NOTE
Warframe as a game is always changing and evolving. Two major examples that I have personally played through are the U22.12 weapon overhaul, and the U27.2 Warframe Revised update. Unfortunately for a sporadic content creator like myself, this means that my content is made redundant over time, and I don't have the time to update everything. As such, please take note of the version at the time of each review's latest update.

Review: Tenet Plinx (U32.2.4)

The Tenet Plinx is a new MR6 Sister of Parvos weapon introduced in U32.2. It is a vast improvement over the base Plinx, with a much stronger basic Semi-Auto attack, as well as a new explosive Alternate Fire.

Review: Loki (Prime) [U32.1.4]

Loki is one of the original Warframes, available since the Closed Beta launched. Like his namesake, Loki's abilities are focused on trickery and deception rather than direct offence or defence. While still very usable, his few niches have become increasingly contested from other Warframes, many of whom offer much more than Loki does.

Review: Embolist (U32.1.4)

The Embolist is an MR9 Beam Secondary. Though it packs a very high Status Chance, it has a very low Range and is completely outclassed by more meta weapons.

Review: Amprex (Updated U32.1.2)

The Amprex is an MR10 beam weapon available from Clan Dojo research. Its high Crit, Status Chance and chaining mechanic make it a potent weapon against most types of enemies, especially groups. However, base Electric damage unfortunately puts it at a notable downside compared to its competitors.

The first return of the Vericres, but not a great deal of notable items this time around.

Review: Catabolyst (U32.0.13)

The Catabolyst is an MR11 Infested Beam Secondary, introduced in U29.5 Deimos Arcana. Its standard attack is a fairly strong single-target beam attack. Uniquely, the Catabolyst throws a grenade upon reloading that is massively strengthened if the magazine was totally emptied. With base Corrosive damage, it is a surprisingly strong and novel weapon.

Review: Fortuna Secondary Kitguns (Updated 32.0.13)

With Fortuna came the second batch of modular weapons, "Kitgun" secondaries, which can be acquired from and built with Rude Zuud. Like Cetus Zaws, they consist of three parts: a Chamber which determines the projectile type and base stats, a Grip that affects Damage, Recoil, and RoF or Beam Range, and a Loader that affects Crit Chance/Damage, Status Chance, Reload Time and Mag Capacity. I'll be giving a rundown of the Chambers, and what sort of setup I feel works best with each.

Semlar's Kitgun Builder is a fantastic resource for planning and comparing Kitguns, though unfortunately it hasn't been updated in some time.

Note that Kitguns can only be Forma'd and coloured, and only award Mastery (once per Chamber), once Gilded. Gilding can be done at Rude Zuud in Fortuna (requiring Rank 3 Doer with Fortuna, 5000 standing, and 10 Shelter Bonds), or Father in the Necralisk (requiring 5000 standing, and 25 Father Tokens)

A couple of items worth looking at this time around.

Saturday 15 October 2022

Review: Phantasma Prime (U32.0.13)

The Phantasma Prime is an MR14 Beam Shotgun, and a very minor upgrade over the base MR9 Phantasma. Released in U32.0.9 alongside Revenant Prime, it is a potent Status weapon with borderline-usable Crit, and excels at stacking massive numbers of procs on clumps of enemies.

Baro Ki'Teer: 07/10/2022

Not a whole lot notable this Baro visit. In non-Baro-related news, the crossplay testing between PC and Xbox seems to be going well.

Friday 7 October 2022

Review: Afentis (U32.0.11)

The Afentis is a new MR8 Speargun Primary. Styanax's signature weapon, it is a slow-firing weapon that launches projectiles with a powerful delayed explosion. Alternatively, it can be thrown into the ground to project a small buff field, which grants any Warframe within it several weapon buffs. While not as notable as a weapon itself, its utility field can be quite useful for some weapons, particularly AoE weapons that have been hit hard by the recent Ammo rework.

Review: Tenet Tetra (Updated U32.0.8)

The Tenet Tetra is an MR16 Rifle, one of the new variants introduced for the U30.5 Sisters of Parvos. With massive stat increases across the board as well as a powerful new second firing mode, it is a well rounded and overall quite strong weapon.

EDIT: U32 changed the Tenet Tetra alternate fire to deplete the remaining magazine in the explosive attack, with damage scaling based on amount of ammo left. This is a significant improvement to the weapon and allows seamless use of both firing modes.

Review: Felarx (Updated U32.0.6)

EDIT: Felarx Incarnon form was given a significant buff in U32 - base Damage increased from 500 to 600, and given a Catchmoon-like wave projectile. These drastically improve the viability of Incarnon form and justify a re-review.

The Felarx is a new MR14 Incarnon Shotgun. Following the incredibly powerful Laetum and Phenmor, it has extremely high standards to live up to. A moderately strong, if slightly unexceptional Shotgun in Default form, headshots charge up Incarnon form. Incarnon form fires wave-like projectiles that tear through crowds, however its lower Burst DPS makes Default form the stronger single-target weapon. The Felarx is the first Incarnon weapon that is best used as a two-mode weapon, unlike the others which want to be in Incarnon form at all times.

NOTE: There are very slight spoilers for Angels of the Zariman, due to the Felarx's acquisition and upgrade methods.

Review: Aegrit (U32.0.5)

The Aegrit is a new MR11 Thrown Secondary, released in U32. A manual-detonation explosive, it packs an impressive blast range with good damage, making it ideal for clearing out groups. It struggles against armoured targets, and is one of many weapons deliberately constrained by the Ammo rework.

Sunday 28 August 2022

Review: Phage (U31.7.2)

The Phage is an unusual MR11 Beam Shotgun. Firing a spread of beams, aiming will converge those beams onto a single point. With innate Viral damage and amazing Status output, it is a potent anti-armour weapon that scales fairly well, though takes some getting used to.

Sunday 21 August 2022

Review: Twin Grakatas (U31.7.2)

The Twin Grakatas are an MR9 Dual Secondary, introduced back in U17. Clem's signature weapon, as its name suggests it is consists of a pair of Grakata Rifles, with similar base stats albeit as a Secondary rather than a Primary. It excels at putting a huge number of rounds downrange, dealing very good Burst DPS but also consuming a ridiculous amount of ammo. While undoubtedly strong, it has several notable drawbacks and faces rather stiff competition.

Monday 8 August 2022

Review: Synapse (U31.7.1)

The Synapse is an MR11 Infested Beam Rifle. With base Corrosive damage and incredible Crit, it presents itself as a strong single target weapon with potential for some great elemental combos.

Baro Ki'Teer: 29/07/2022, 12/08/22, 26/08/22

An enormous Baro visit this time around, he's also bringing back the past three fortnights worth of stock to allow Console to catch up (they had previously been around 3 visits behind PC). As of today, PC and Console Baro are now synchronised, another step on the way to Cross-play. This particular Baro inventory will remain the same until the end of August.

Since I don't want to write about the past couple of visits worth, I'll only be writing about what came around this time, all in the top section. Please refer to my previous three Baro posts for the others:

Review: Hystrix Prime (U31.7.0)

The Hystrix Prime is an MR12 Full-Auto Secondary, one of Khora Prime's signature weapons. With forced elemental procs and great Crit, it is quite strong against all manner of single Status-vulnerable targets. However, it reloads very frequently and has little capability against large groups.

Baro Ki'Teer: 15/07/2022

Several items of good value this visit, though of course Tennocon tickets will give you access to Baro's entire stock tomorrow.

Wednesday 13 July 2022

Review: Twin Kohmak (U31.6.3)

The Twin Kohmak is a rather old MR10 Dual Secondary, introduced back in U16. As its name suggests, it shares many similarities with the Primary Shotgun Kohm (and its Kuva variant). A spool-up weapon, it increases in both Fire Rate and Multishot during sustained fire, but also consumes more ammo-per-shot at full speed. While the Twin Kohmak packs great Status output, that is about its only key strength and it faces strong competition in many other aspects.

Cascadia Accuracy and Overcharge: Use Cases and Comparisons (U31.6.3)

Cascadia Accuracy and Overcharge are two Secondary Arcanes introduced in U31.5 Angels of the Zariman, alongside Cascadia Empowered. These two are a lot simpler than that one mechanically, simply offering conditional +300% Crit Chance. Nonetheless, I thought it worth discussing which weapons should legitimately consider them.

NOTE: There are very slight spoilers for Angels of the Zariman due to the acquisition method of Cascadia Accuracy and Overcharge.

Review: Kuva Twin Stubbas (Updated U31.6.3)

Updated 24th June 2022, U31.6.3
Original posted U27.1.2

The Kuva Twin Stubbas are an MR13 Dual Secondary introduced with Kuva Liches. With great Status Chance backed up by solid Crit and a very large Mag Capacity, they are among the best Dual Secondaries in the game currently.

Cascadia Empowered: Functionality and Use Cases (U31.6.1)

Cascadia Empowered is one of the new Secondary Arcanes introduced in U31.5 Angels of the Zariman. It offers an unusual damaging effect compared to the more traditional weapon Arcanes, deserving of closer inspection and analysis.

NOTE: There are very slight spoilers for Angels of the Zariman due to the acquisition method of Cascadia Empowered.

Saturday 28 May 2022

Review: Aeolak (U31.5.10)

The Aeolak is a new MR10 Rifle, release in U31.5. It packs a relatively solid, slow Full-Auto Primary Fire, as well as a powerful explosive Alternate Fire with a short Charge Time. It is a versatile, if perhaps not spectacular, weapon.

NOTE: There are very slight spoilers for Angels of the Zariman, due to the acquisition of this weapon.

Tuesday 17 May 2022

Review: Phenmor (U31.5.9)

The Phenmor is an MR14 Rifle, another weapon in the new Incarnon family. A slow-firing Semi-Auto Rifle in its Default form, each headshot charges up its Incarnon form. When transformed into Incarnon form, the Phenmor is a fearsome Full-Auto heavy machine gun that tears through almost every enemy with ease.

NOTE: Like with the Laetum, there are very slight spoilers for the new Angels of the Zariman quest and content.

Prime Unvaulting: Chroma and Zephyr Primes (2022)

Another "new" Unvaulting, a straight re-run from around the same time last year: Chroma and Zephyr Primes. To be honest, not a lot has changed since then for these items.

Tuesday 10 May 2022

Review: Laetum (U31.5.7)

The Laetum is an MR14 Secondary, one of the new "Incarnon" weapons. Its default form is a fairly ordinary slow-firing Semi-Auto, however headshots will charge up an Incarnon form. When transformed, the Laetum is quite possibly the strongest ranged weapon in the entire game.

NOTE: Angels of the Zariman spoilers have been kept to a minimum in this review, but by nature of its acquisition and upgrade it is not completely spoiler free.

Wednesday 4 May 2022

Review: Alternox (U31.7.2)

The Alternox is an MR8 Rifle, recently released in U31.5. Gyre's signature weapon, it is a Status-focused Electric weapon with two distinct, but unfortunately unimpressive firing modes. While novel, it offers little that other weapons do not match or outclass.

NOTE: There are very slight spoilers for Angels of the Zariman, noting the Alternox's acquisition method.

UPDATED 21/08/2022 (U31.7.2) - Update made to the Galvanised Mods section in light of new information.

Saturday 16 April 2022

Review: Akbronco Prime (U31.3.1)

The Akbronco Prime is one of the oldest Primes in the game, introduced all the way back in U12.4. A pair of Secondary Shotguns, it can inflict a decent number of Status procs at very close range. New mods have breathed new life into it, however overall it is largely outclassed by other new Secondary Shotguns.

Sunday 3 April 2022

Review: Nagantaka Prime (U31.3.1)

The MR12 Nagantaka Prime is an improved version of the MR9 Nagantaka. Garuda Prime's signature Crossbow, it excels at inflicting brutal Slash procs on heavily armoured enemies, though struggles against large groups.

Saturday 19 March 2022

Review: Quanta Vandal (U31.2.1)

The Quanta Vandal is an MR10 Beam Rifle. It possesses a solid, conventional beam Primary Fire with an unusual explosive Alternate Fire that benefits from manual detonation. It is a solid and surprisingly versatile weapon, though is burdened with an unfortunate base damage type, and finds itself facing increasingly strong competition.

Sunday 6 March 2022

Review: Spira Prime (U31.1.8)

The Spira Prime is an MR10 Thrown Secondary. Sporting impressive Crit, it is one of the strongest Thrown Secondaries in the game, however pales in comparison to more conventional weapons.

Prime Unvaulting: Banshee and Mirage Primes (2022)

Redux of an old Unvaulting to tide us over, Banshee and Mirage Primes once again. I personally really liked the Prime Resurgence event late 2021, and I hope that DE uses that as a template for future Unvaultings. The game hasn't changed a huge deal since I last covered the Banshee + Mirage unvaulting.

A couple of items added to Baro this time around, a few useful items and a lot of cosmetics available this fortnight.

Review: Zylok (U31.0.11)

The Zylok is an MR6 Secondary, originally introduced as a reward for The Pyrus Project in U23.6. It is part Tigris and part Sybaris, using a "Duplex" trigger as well as being a Slash-based Status weapon. For a long time a largely underwhelming weapon, it benefits significantly from newer mods but is still mostly outclassed in what it does.
